Kincaid Homeplace on Irish Creek - About 1912.
Home of William Alexander Kincaid (1853- 1947) and Harriette Loretta McGimsey Kincaid (1853-1936) who are standing at bottom of steps. Susan Kincaid Hemphill (1889-1969) is standing at top of steps. The Kincaid's son, Thomas Monroe Kincaid (1887- 1977) is on a horse.
The house is no longer standing.

William Ellerbe Powe (1829-1905)
was born in Cheraw, SC and was the son of William Ellerbe Powe and Elizabeth Sloan Torrence. He served as mayor of Morganton for several terms. He married Catherine Elvira "Katie" Tate (1841-1918). |

Colonel Thomas George Walton (1815-1905)
Son of Thomas Walton and Martha McEntire. He was one of the antebellum leaders of Morganton and Burke County. He built Creekside, an antebellum house still standing at 825 West Union Street, Morganton, NC. Colonel Walton began building the house in 1836. It was completed in 1837 soon after he married Elizabeth A. Murphy. |
